Parents Step Ahead Ambassador and volunteer, Celina Cárdenas, has been selected as one of 12 MillerCoors Líderes for her exceptional contributions to the Latino community. The public can visit www.MillerCoorsLideres.com now through October 30 to vote everyday for Celina Cárdenas. If she is chosen as the MillerCoors Líder of the Year, Parents Step Ahead will receive a $25,000 grant to expand its parent education programs and initiatives.
“I am honored to be chosen for this year’s MillerCoors Líderes program,” said Celina Cárdenas. “MillerCoors has made a commitment to the Hispanic community by investing in emerging Latino leadership, and I am grateful for the opportunity to win a grant for Parents Step Ahead. I hope the public votes for me in support of my goal to be an inspiration for future generations of Latino leaders.”
Celina has been an Ambassador for Parents Step Ahead since 2011 and was instrumental in expanding the Parents Step Ahead program for parents in Richardson, Texas. With her leadership, more than 1000 families have been served through the program in Richardson, and more than 30 community and business organizations have partnered in this specific endeavor. Her passion to advance the Hispanic community through education stems from her early work as a High School teacher. Celina truly believes that parental involvement in the schools and in education is the key to a student’s success. She currently serves on the Dallas Mayor’s Star Council, is a current member of the Leadership Dallas Class of 2014, and has served on a number of Boards and Committees throughout the greater Dallas area.
