Sam Nix will be the keynote speaker of the 8th Annual Parents Step Ahead, “Parent of the Year,” Awards Ceremony scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2014. The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the Wyndham Dallas Love Field, 3300 W. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75235.

Nix began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Workman Junior High school in the Arlington ISD.  He was named Teacher of the Year as a 2nd year teacher, and was runner up for teacher of the district in 2005.  During his tenure as a teacher, he led both his school and district in U.S. History TAKS Scores.  Sam has served as an Assistant Principal at Hutcheson Junior High School, the Principal of Carter Junior High, and was recently promoted to serve in the capacity of Principal of Seguin High School in the Arlington ISD. Sam has earned his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership, his Superintendent Certification and is currently working on a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. He is a presenter for Education Career Alternative Programs (ECAP); has been awarded a Leadership-in-Education Award from the Texas House of Representatives; was nominated for the Martin Luther King Jr. Service Award in Education; was presented the Mary McLeod Bethune Heritage Award for Education by the NAACP, has released a music based curriculum for student instruction in the area of History that is currently being used in eleven states, was featured in the New Horizon University of North Texas Magazine as a premier leader in education and was recently featured in the #1 selling education book in America, “The First Days of School” by Harry Wong.

I am so proud to see a friend of mine’s when I was 12 years old used to go to the Bethesda and Tonawanda New York Church with the brother Billy White and your grandmother and your aunt your uncle and your dad we all went to the same church I am from Niagara Falls New York and the pastor who I was under was the Reverend Wade Thomas but I am so glad to read and see how God has blessed you and your family sister Joanne.
