Celebrating Family Day in 2 Cities
On Saturday, March 28, 2015, Parents Step Ahead (PSA) kicked off the 5th “Family Day” beautification program in Irving ISD. Part 1 of 2015’s Month of the Family began with projects done at Irving High School, Austin Middle School and M.C. Lively Elementary.

Their project focused on the creation of a “Bronco Bistro,” a VIP sitting area for students to use as a merit basis initiative. The bistro was decorated and furnished with the addition of tall tables, stools, colorful lamps, tables and chairs.
The enthusiastic families of Lively refurnished the Parent Center area with a new rug, and created paintings that decorated the entire school. Flowers were planted in the courtyard area and extensive cleaning work was also done.
On Saturday, April 11, 2015, Parents Step Ahead (PSA) held the second “Family Day” beautification program at Northside ISD in San Antonio, Texas, with beautification projects done at Anson Jones Middle School and Cable Elementary School.
More than 150 parents, students and teacher gathered early in the morning to work on beautifying their front outdoor area by repainting benches that have been chipped off throughout the years. They also worked on repainting their cougar mascot that is displayed in the front of the school that has faded in color.
Almost 200 parents, teachers and student continued to invest several hours working on enhancing their project from last years “Family Day” in 2014, by expanding the capacity of the courtyard garden to include an outdoor classroom seating. They built wooden benches and created concrete stepping stones that included a special artistic touch to their outdoor learning area.
