Teachers and administrators have first-hand knowledge of the issues their students face today. It is imperative that they work with parents to address these issues.

With the help from ETS (Educational Testing Service), Parents Step Ahead has developed a new outreach component consisting of teachers and administrators serving as “Ambassadors” who actively engage parents who have never participated in their child’s school activities or visited their schools. They assist in making calls to parents, marketing the program and provide guidance to Parents Step Ahead for their programs.

During the school-based programs, Parents Step Ahead recognizes these “ambassadors” for their hard work and support by raffling cash grants for summer teacher conferences, gift cards, and a laptop computer for school use. These are the champions who are making the difference in their pupils’ lives by going that extra mile to reach out to parents.

ETS has supported our initiative of parental involvement through their generous contributions to our school-based programs, establishment of our Teacher Ambassador initiative, and assistance in analyzing data collected from program participants. Thanks to their support, Parents Step Ahead has been able to award teachers as ambassadors with laptops and other prizes.

This expansion of the Parents Step Ahead program will have a positive impact not only on the lives of the children whose parents participate, but also on the well-being of the communities where underserved families live.
