Atmos Energy Continues Support of Parents Step Ahead with a $3,500 Donation
Atmos Energy strives to be a part of the local community and is proud to support agencies like Parents Step Ahead that encourage parental involvement and development by empowering parents with the tools needed to be proactive in their child’s education and growth which is a crucial step in their future success and happiness. “This is part of our mission… to give back to the communities we serve and help with the education of our future leaders,” said Celina Cárdenas, Public Affairs Manager for Atmos Energy. “At Atmos Energy we are proud to support Parents Step Ahead which is doing a great job reaching parents and students… you are helping shape the future work force.”
Parents Step Ahead partners with local Dallas-Fort Worth area school districts, community organizations and businesses to host school-based programs to educate parents on the importance of parental involvement and provide them the tools needed to be proactive in their children’s education. The Atmos Energy donation will be used to fund school-based seminars in the districts of DeSoto, Richardson, Dallas and Irving. Some 300 parents are expected to attend each event, which consists of seminars on topics such as gang awareness, drug and alcohol awareness, understanding bullying, computer literacy, college readiness, and financial literacy among many others. Each program includes, seminars provided by experts, community resource fair, free meals, and childcare, attendees also can register to win desktop computer.
